About me

My name’s Josh. I live and work in the Creative Quarter of Folkestone, a lovely little English seaside town. I’m a professional proofreader and editor, and I’ve been working with authors and publishers for over seven years now, on over 250 titles, developing their ideas and polishing their writing.

So why work with me? In short, experience and expertise. I'm:

  • A Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders;

  • A First-class Graduate in Creative Writing and English Literature;

  • Experienced with a number of publishers and journals, including in-house experience at a literary journal;

  • Qualified through The Publishing Training Centre’s renowned editing course;

  • An alumnus of a number of writing placements and courses, including an international placement on developing and workshopping fiction held in Beijing.

As a writer myself I understand how difficult it can be to give and receive criticism. I don’t want to simply be part of the process of publishing, I want to be your advisor and fan. My editing style isn’t an abundance of red lines, but considered feedback that motivates you forward to finishing your story.

Ultimately, my goal is to improve your skills as a writer, not just your current project.
